Final Fantasy VII Rebirth PS5 Pro Version to Support 4K/60fps Mode

Recently, the official team behind Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth revealed more technical details about the game. The PS5 Pro version will offer a multi-function mode, outputting visuals at 4K resolution while maintaining a target of 60 frames per second.

《最终幻想7:启示》PS5 Pro版将支持4K/60帧模式

This PS5 Pro-exclusive feature was previously used in Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, where it leveraged PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution technology to achieve the effect, though it sometimes caused objects to suddenly pop in during level-of-detail transitions. It remains unclear how the new title will be optimized for the PS5 Pro, or whether an upgraded version of PSSR will be employed.

The base PS5 will offer two modes: Quality and Performance. Quality mode prioritizes 4K resolution, while Performance mode targets 60 fps and includes "Sharp" and "Soft" visual options. These modes are also expected to be available on the Xbox Series X version.

The currently showcased content is from a demo version still under development, with the team continuing to optimize performance. Therefore, the actual performance of these modes in the final release has not yet been determined.

Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth will launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Switch 2 on April 8, 2027. The full completion time has been confirmed to exceed 100 hours. Players who wish to focus solely on the story can enable an auto-leveling option after reaching a certain point in the game, allowing them to continue in a more linear fashion.
