Easier Escapes Even When You Can't Win: Blood of Dawnwalkers Adjusts Combat Experience in October

Rebel Wolves confirmed that "Blood of Dawnwalkers" will launch its first major update in early October, adding a new difficulty level easier than the existing Story Mode, primarily aimed at players who wish to focus on understanding the story without enduring combat challenges.

Game Director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz stated that many players hope for further difficulty reduction. After the update goes live, the newly added lowest difficulty will retain the name "Story Mode"; the current Story Mode will be raised by one tier and renamed, with the team temporarily considering a name that implies "high demand."

"Blood of Dawnwalkers" currently features four difficulty levels: Story, Fair, Challenge, and Duelist. With the addition of the new option, the total number of difficulties will increase to five. However, the mechanisms by which the lowest difficulty will weaken or bypass combat have not yet been announced, and it has not been confirmed whether combat can be completely skipped.

This update will also adjust various combat experiences. The team is working on more flexible ways to disengage from combat, making it easier for players to retreat when facing overwhelming enemies; the target locking and camera systems will also be modified, including adjustments to how the protagonist Coen switches and controls targets.

The development team is also improving game performance, especially on the PC version. Regarding the target stun mechanic, Tomaszkiewicz revealed that updated targets will need to withstand three attacks to break free from stun. The team will observe whether this approach creates new operational issues based on actual player feedback.

The rest of the October update content has not been fully disclosed, and the specific release date has not been confirmed. Rebel Wolves has also confirmed that a New Game+ mode is in subsequent plans, but did not specify whether it will be released with this update.

"Blood of Dawnwalkers" was released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on September 3, surpassing 1 million copies sold within two days of launch. The currently announced adjustments to difficulty, combat, and performance are planned to be included in the first major update in early October.
