Less than two weeks after entering Steam Early Access, War Dogs attracted hundreds of thousands of players. This sudden surge in user base has put pressure on developer Bulkhead regarding content delivery, leading the team to focus on the version 1.0 release and console launch at this stage.
Joe Brammer, Executive Producer of War Dogs and CEO of Bulkhead, stated that the team did not initially develop this first-person shooter with the current player scale in mind. While they are pleased that a large number of players now resonate with their approach to FPS games, the resulting demand has exceeded original expectations.
Brammer admitted that Bulkhead cannot satisfy every player and that the team must make trade-offs to maintain an effective development pace and gradually complete version 1.0. He stated that developers have managed both internal and external expectations.
"We won't have enough content for everyone, nor can we keep up with the demand," Brammer said. He acknowledged that this situation is inevitable, but players can still enjoy the game. The team's core goal is to deliver a polished version 1.0 and continue expanding the game around its console release.
Brammer previously mentioned that balance updates are a current priority. As development continues, the team will allocate resources between content delivery, balance adjustments, and the development of version 1.0.
Regarding recruitment, Bulkhead also reviews applicants' Steam accounts to confirm their genuine passion for FPS games. Citing Final Fantasy as an example, Brammer stated that they would not assign individuals unsuited for a specific genre to related projects.
