Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, has begun removing videos and posts containing leaked content from Grand Theft Auto V and GTA VI. Some online content featuring leaked footage or audio clips has been deleted, and creators who posted such material may also face copyright warnings.
A large number of Grand Theft Auto V files leaked online last week. Reportedly, these materials originated from a 2022 hacking incident; the same breach also led to the leak of the first footage of GTA VI. The related files had been circulating for some time before being widely released recently.
The files include dialogue cut during the development of Grand Theft Auto V, with some lines suggesting that the story originally had different directions, such as Franklin potentially having a darker ending. However, the two most notable items at this stage are a canceled Liberty City expansion pack and an extremely early version of the GTA VI map.
These materials were not officially released by Rockstar, nor were they extracted by players from existing game files; instead, they were illegally obtained through hacking. Take-Two is currently cleaning up related content, but based on current observations, the scope of their actions does not appear to have reached the intensity seen during the previous GTA VI leak incident.
Content creator TJGM stated that one of his videos, which only covered file lists, data visualizations generated by player tools, and a short clip of cut dialogue from Grand Theft Auto V, was also taken down; the video did not contain any GTA VI content.
GTA VI is approximately two months away from release. Rockstar has experienced multiple leaks over the past four years, and the lack of a physical edition for this title will make pre-release leaks more difficult. However, since a significant amount of related footage still appeared online this August, the possibility of further leaks cannot be ruled out.
