Sucker Punch Productions released the version 2.000 update for the PS5 version of Ghost of Yōtei on September 21, jumping the game version directly from 1.604 to 2.000. This update is expected to include data required for the Complete Edition launching on October 1, though the studio has not yet released official patch notes.
The Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition will bring the narrative expansion "Ghost of Yōtei: Echoes of Sekigahara." The story unfolds between modern times and Atsu's memories from when he was on mainland Japan, as Nagato from Atsu's past arrives in Ezo. Players will also explore a valley once inhabited by Snake and his followers, the "Viper Gang," and experience key moments from Atsu's participation in the Battle of Sekigahara and before his return home for revenge.
This expansion will also add new enemies, heavy weapons, armor, and dyes. Another new addition to the Complete Edition, "Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted," is a single-player combat survival mode with roguelike elements. Players accept bounties to start new challenges, earn buffs by defeating enemies, and unlock more playable characters.
Different characters excel in this mode: Atsu specializes in dual blades, Yuki in the kusarigama, and Nagato in the spear. The Complete Edition also includes all previously Digital Deluxe-exclusive in-game content, the Polaris Charm, new tracks for Watanabe Mode, Photo Mode stamps, additional cosmetics for New Game+, and trophies corresponding to the two new content additions.
Players who purchase the Complete Edition before September 30 can unlock the Sakai Clan Armor for Atsu early on October 1. This gear pays homage to Jin Sakai's family armor from Ghost of Tsushima. Access to the new content in the Complete Edition requires a paid upgrade.
Base game players will also receive free features alongside the Complete Edition update, including the "Beauty of Ezo" mode, which displays Ezo landscapes like a screensaver, and new tracks for Watanabe Mode usable throughout the game. The update will also add a transmog feature, allowing players to retain armor appearances while using different stats, along with new high-contrast accessibility options.
The previous version 1.604 also lacked official patch notes, but it added the "Snake" armor, originally a pre-order bonus, as well as the black-purple Ghost Dye from the Digital Deluxe Edition. The full list of changes for version 2.000 is still pending announcement by Sucker Punch Productions.
