Jacksepticeye, producer of the Bloodborne animated film, recently responded to skepticism surrounding his involvement in the project. He stated that approximately 80% of the feedback regarding his role as producer was critical following the announcement, and confirmed that the film will not retell the original game's story.
Jacksepticeye, whose real name is Seán McLoughlin, is a content creator. In an interview, he admitted feeling the pressure to deliver on this project. Regarding player reactions, he believes they shouldn't be simply categorized as negative: if a YouTuber suddenly became involved in producing a work he loved, he would feel equally skeptical.
Sony unveiled this R-rated animated film at CinemaCon in April 2026. Jacksepticeye is one of the producers, with PlayStation Productions and Lyrical Animation also involved in the production. No release date has been announced yet.
Discussing the adaptation's direction, Jacksepticeye explained that the film does not intend to replace or surpass the game, nor will it repeat the existing plot. The production team plans to respect the world already established in Bloodborne while telling a different story within that setting.
Jacksepticeye also stated that he has significant input on the overall production and direction of the film. He will help determine whether creative choices are appropriate and decide which individuals and teams to hire, ensuring that everyone involved understands Bloodborne.
He previously described his involvement in the film as a "dream come true" and pledged to do his best to ensure the project meets the expected standards. Currently, no specific details regarding the plot, cast, crew, or release schedule have been officially revealed.
