Developer Grim Ronin unveiled TOKYO WALLED CITY at Tokyo Game Show 2026. This retro cyberpunk immersive sim focuses on stealth action while incorporating survival horror and RPG elements. The game is planned for an Early Access launch, with no official release date announced yet.
More than a decade has passed since the last Deus Ex game, and the cliffhanger left by Deus Ex: Mankind Divided means Adam Jensen’s story remains unfinished. TOKYO WALLED CITY opts for similar themes and gameplay, allowing players to infiltrate a gloomy cyberpunk urban district.
Players take on the role of mercenary Reiko Kimura, trapped in a densely built, fortified enclosed district in Tokyo. Judging by the name and scene design, the game appears to draw inspiration from Kowloon Walled City; the opening cityscape in the trailer also echoes the iconic Coca-Cola billboard scene from Blade Runner.
The first trailer showcased actions such as crawling through ventilation ducts, disabling security cameras, hacking computers, turning off lights, and peeking around corners. The password “0451” also made an appearance. The protagonist can jump between rooftops and leap from heights to perform assassinations with a blade.
On the game’s Steam page, Grim Ronin states that the release version will feature a handcrafted, freely explorable three-dimensional city. Stealth and sound mechanics will track the character’s visibility and noise propagation, with tools available to players including silenced pistols, high-tech traps, and grappling hooks.
According to the current plan, the public Alpha test phase for TOKYO WALLED CITY will last 18 to 24 months, with the game initially launching in Early Access.
