After years of development and a lengthy delay, the pirate-themed pixel adventure game Draco and the Seven Scales has officially launched, now available on Steam and itch.io. The game was originally scheduled for release in 2024.
Developed by Ice Goat Games, the game features a retro pixel art style inspired by the Game Boy era. Its gameplay direction is akin to The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages. The visuals are handled by artist Manelzin, while Tohomoko composed the shanty-style soundtrack.
Players take on the role of a pirate captain embarking on a journey to save their most prized treasure. The story unfolds across seven classic top-down dungeons, with a vast world filled with dangerous enemies, dark forces seeking corruption, and over 15 collectible items.
Adventure isn't confined to land. Players must also set sail, switching between land exploration and sea voyages, while battling monsters, hostile captains, and Her Majesty's Royal Fleet.
The Steam version is currently available with a launch discount, priced at £13.04, with the offer expected to end on October 2, 2026. The store also offers two bundles, combining the game with Fantasy Island by desertcucco and Skysea Islands by Cicada Games; players can also purchase the game via itch.io.
