Independent developer Joel J Games has released a new Game Boy Color title, Fall from Space. This open-world action RPG is now available, with a current player rating of 4.9 out of 5 on its Itch.io page.
Fall from Space features a non-linear open-world structure with Metroidvania-style platforming gameplay. Players will explore multiple distinct worlds, complete side quests and encounter events, while searching for secrets and upgrades.
The game includes branching storylines and a morality system, where player choices affect the ending. Multiple endings provide replay value, with developers estimating a single playthrough to take 7 to 10 hours.
The game also supports saving at any time, multiple save slots, and the Game Boy Printer. The developer stated that the game has been in development for nearly five years, and the cartridge is compatible with Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, ModRetro Chromatic, and Analogue Pocket.
The music is originally composed by Beatscribe, and the cover art is illustrated by Mitsuhiro Arita, who has worked on the Pokémon Trading Card Game. The physical edition is sold through ModRetro, with the cartridge and packaging priced at $44.99.
Currently, there are no user reviews on the ModRetro page; the 4.9 rating comes from the game's Itch.io page. Fall from Space is currently exclusive to Game Boy Color.
