The open-world RPG Imo has surpassed 166,000 concurrent players on Steam, exceeding Palworld. According to SteamDB data, as of September 20, the game's concurrent player count was still rising.
Imo is a game featuring Pokémon-style creature collection elements, with an art style similar to Genshin Impact, but it does not use a gacha mechanic. By surpassing Palworld in concurrent players, it became the most-played Pokémon-style game on Steam at that time.
At that time, Imo's concurrent player count was higher than Rust, Delta Force, and Slay the Spire 2, with only eight games on Steam ranking above it. These included Bongo Cat, Apex Legends, and Dota 2, with Counter-Strike 2 holding the top spot.
PC Gamer editor Lauren Morton previously gave a lukewarm review of Imo after playing a demo. She stated, "It's hard for me to find anything it does better than other creature-collecting and gacha games." However, this assessment was based on her experience during the closed beta test in January of this year.
