Fan team Twilit Realm has released the 2.0 update for Dusklight, a native PC port project of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. This update adds full mod support, a built-in content browser, and a randomizer mode, while also improving graphics, controls, audio, and save functionality.
Dusklight is developed using the Aurora engine, allowing the game to run natively on PC through decompilation. Team member Taka stated that the team has been working on this patch for the past few months. Version 2.0 allows players to search, download, and update mods directly within the game interface, install .dusk files via drag-and-drop, and enable, disable, or adjust mods during gameplay.
The update also adds an appearance customization menu, allowing modifications to Link's clothing and equipment, wolf form, Epona, companion Midna, and interface color schemes. Open tools for content creators support C++ and Luau scripting, enabling the creation of new mechanics, modification of cutscenes, or addition of custom actions.
The built-in randomizer mode can redistribute dungeon equipment, shop items, side quest rewards, hidden skills, and secret items. Players can adjust generation rules, skip the tutorial prologue, change the conditions for entering Hyrule Castle, or shuffle the entrances to regions, caves, and boss rooms. The system also generates hint logs and allows sharing world parameters via short links.
On the technical front, the team introduced asynchronous GPU command processing and optimized internal engine systems. According to test results shown by the author, frame rates in complex scenes increased from 235 FPS to 800 FPS. Menus, text, maps, and the interface now support dynamic time steps, providing smoother performance on high-refresh-rate monitors; weather, rope physics, particles, and aim interpolation have also been improved.
The controls section now features full mouse camera and aiming support, along with improved gyroscope controls for handhelds like the Steam Deck. The Android version receives adjustable touch controls and touchscreen assist lock features. Players can also remove black bars during cutscenes and gameplay, speed up area transitions, and display crosshairs for the slingshot and bow.
Dusklight 2.0 supports 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound, increases the sample rate from 32kHz to 48kHz, and adds background music volume adjustment. The save manager provides data corruption protection, backups, and import functionality for .gci and .raw formats. The project itself does not include copyrighted game files; players need to provide their own legally obtained original disc dumps. The team also hinted at potential Wii U version support in the official video's ending.
