The unofficial Nintendo book Hyrule Echoes has now been released, bringing the supporting characters from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time who lacked the spotlight to the center of the story. Link still appears throughout the book, but primarily serves to connect the various stories rather than acting as the main protagonist.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has been a frequent topic of discussion and retrospection among players for years, with many hoping for a remake on the Switch 2. While Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf often take center stage, many other characters who accompany the hero's journey and subtly influence events in Hyrule rarely receive equal attention. The series entry The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom previously centered its core narrative on Princess Zelda, while Hyrule Echoes shifts the focus further to other characters.
Written by Anna-Victòria Teixidó under the pen name "Kurusonna," the book focuses on the non-player characters from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The stories are arranged chronologically, beginning before the events of the game and later extending beyond the borders of Hyrule.
Hyrule Echoes is available in two editions: a Deluxe Edition and a limited "Hero of Time Edition." The Deluxe Edition, priced at €25.95, includes a 332-page hardcover book, an Ocarina of Time GP Card print, and two exclusive bookmarks. The "Hero of Time Edition," priced at €35.95, is available exclusively through the Game Press website.
The "Hero of Time Edition" additionally includes an ocarina manual, a character relationship chart for the series' stories, two art prints, two exclusive bookmarks, an Ocarina of Time GP Card, and a numbered certificate. Both editions contain the same book content, measure 17×24 cm, and feature sewn binding.
The book's foreword is written by Carlos Martínez "Seijurou," with interior illustrations and cover art created by María Lozano "Maiku" and Víctor Polonio, respectively. Game Press explicitly states that neither edition is affiliated with Nintendo; the content is fan-created, serving as an unofficial supplement to the stories of the characters and events surrounding the Hero of Time.
