A new installment from the horror game played by 63 million people! Cooperative survival gameplay, free to play during the National Day holiday!
Cooperative survival horror game Escape from Playtime unveiled a new trailer at today's PC Gaming Show Tokyo showcase, announcing that the game will launch on Steam in Early Access on October 22, 2026.
Meanwhile, developer Mob Entertainment announced that Escape from Playtime will hold a free Steam test from October 1 to October 6, 2026. Players can now apply for test access to experience the unique cooperative survival horror gameplay ahead of time.
Escape from Playtime is a spin-off of Poppy Playtime, developed by Mob Entertainment. This globally renowned horror game series has amassed over 63 million players.
In the new title Escape from Playtime, players take on the role of "Smiling Critters," exploring every corner of the Playtime Factory. You can venture out alone or team up with friends, supporting up to 4 players surviving together in the Playtime Factory.
In the game, a mysterious voice guides players deeper into The Facilty to collect scattered parts and resources. Meanwhile, defective toys discarded by Playtime Co. still roam the abandoned factory. Players need to search for tools, uncover clues, find hiding spots, and use the environment to create distractions or choose different routes to evade enemies, cooperating with teammates to complete their exploration.
Additionally, players will experience the deep connections between this new title and #Funtime. What are the motives behind that mysterious voice? Can everyone find freedom and a place to belong? Where do the collected resources go, and what is being built? These mysteries will be unraveled as you complete round after round of gameplay!
The game supports proximity voice chat, allowing players to communicate with nearby teammates while exploring, enabling them to split up or cooperate based on the situation.
Map structures and factory environments are generated using procedural generation technology, ensuring slightly different layouts each time you play. Players will explore classrooms, warehouses, testing labs, and dimly lit corridors connecting various areas, re-exploring iconic scenes from Poppy Playtime from the perspective of the "Smiling Critters."
Escape from Playtime will launch on Steam in Early Access on October 22, 2026. The initial release will include 8 characters, one starting area, and the first batch of core enemies. During Early Access, the development team will continuously roll out new areas, enemies, and features based on player feedback.
Applications for free test access are now open. After the test period, players can fill out a questionnaire to submit feedback, helping the development team further refine the game.
