According to Rockstar's official pre-order announcement and the FAQ pages on the PlayStation and Xbox stores, the console version of GTA 6, releasing on November 19, 2026, will launch with only the complete single-player story content, excluding any built-in multiplayer or online modules.
Official materials repeatedly define this title as a "single-player experience," marking the first time in the series' history that the single-player base game and the online mode are being released completely separately. In contrast to the old model of GTA 5, where GTA Online launched as a free update just two weeks after the single-player release, Rockstar has not officially announced the existence of the next-generation GTA Online for GTA 6 at this stage. They have neither revealed its name, gameplay features, nor provided an approximate release window. The company remains silent on the online project overall and has refused to discuss the topic when questioned by media.
Pre-ordering any edition of GTA 6 also includes a one-month GTA+ membership. This benefit applies to the currently operating GTA Online in GTA 5 and is not intended for the new game's online mode.
The industry generally speculates that the next-generation GTA Online will still be developed and is likely to be released in the future as standalone additional content or even as a separate application. However, all of this remains industry speculation and has not been officially confirmed. The online mode release dates, session player counts, and monetization plans circulating online are merely guesses from fans and analysts; players should await Rockstar's official announcements for accurate information.
A reminder to players: do not interpret "no multiplayer at launch" as GTA 6 completely removing its online mode. Rockstar has only confirmed that there will be no multiplayer content on release day; whether it will be added in the future, and when, remains unknown.
