Recently, Final Fantasy VII Revelation Director Naoki Hamaguchi revealed the post-launch DLC plans in an interview with foreign media outlet VGC. Following the game's release on April 8, 2027, two standalone story expansion DLCs will be launched: a Sephiroth-themed chapter and a Vincent chapter titled "Vincent & Turks." Both DLCs are scheduled for release between winter 2027 and spring 2028. They can be accessed via the Story Expansion Pass or purchased separately in the future.
Naoki Hamaguchi stated that these two DLCs follow the same creative approach as the Yuffie DLC in Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, serving as side-story expansions designed to delve deeper into individual character arcs. The complete endings of the Remake trilogy are included in the base game, and the DLCs are not intended to supplement the main storyline. Players can experience the full trilogy narrative without purchasing the DLC.
The official timeline for the two DLCs has not yet been announced. The Sephiroth chapter may explore his past as an elite SOLDIER during his time at Shinra, shedding light on his history with Cloud. Although "Vincent & Turks" pairs Vincent with the Shinra special investigation unit, the Turks, it remains unconfirmed whether this chapter is a prequel or a new storyline set after the main plot's conclusion. Further details will be gradually revealed after the base game's launch.
Compared to previous entries in the series, Final Fantasy VII Remake featured a standalone Yuffie DLC, while Final Fantasy VII Rebirth did not release any story DLC. As a result, the announcement of two DLCs for Final Fantasy VII Revelation has drawn significant attention from fans. The base game will launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC. The Deluxe and Collector's Editions include the Story Expansion Pass by default, while Standard Edition players can purchase the DLC content separately later on.
