Developer Game River Studio announced the release of the latest free version of their well-received game, Steel Commander, featuring limited-time access to some gameplay modes. Additionally, the latest update introduces a new Roguelike mode and more.

In this brand-new mode, you will embark on a journey to conquer nine planets, face challenges in battles filled with random factors, clash with mirror lineups of real players from around the world, and unlock generous "Stellar Expedition" rewards that will completely transform your subsequent gaming experience—all providing an immersive, pure strategy gameplay experience.
Single-player and Co-op: You can embark on the Stellar Expedition alone or team up with friends. In co-op mode, two commanders will lead their respective independent armies into the same battlefield, coordinating tactics and deployments to fight against enemies together.

Free Version
To allow more players to experience Mechabellum, the free version will launch on Steam alongside version 2.0 on September 22.
Free Version Access: Starting September 22, a new "Play Mechabellum - Free Version" button will appear on the Mechabellum Steam store page.
Zero-Barrier Access: Free version players can enjoy most of the game's content for free and can upgrade to the full version at any time.
Feature Limitations: Free version players will face some restrictions regarding public chat, inventory capacity, and reward progress.
New Unit: Centurion
The Centurion is equipped with a precision rifle for long-range strikes, dual-wields rifles for mid-range suppression, and can even switch to melee mode to charge into battle. With a series of exclusive tech upgrades, the Centurion will play a unique role on the battlefield.
More Strategic Choices

Season and Rank Overhaul
Starting from Season 9, seasonal rewards will be completely decoupled from Combat Power:
A Purer Ladder Experience: Combat Power will strictly reflect your ranking progress and no longer restrict seasonal rewards.
Reward Distribution: Seasonal rewards and cosmetic rewards are now distributed through the new "Battle Pass" system.
New System: Battle Groups
The Battle Pass is a new system introduced in version 2.0. There are two types of Battle Passes: the "Standard Battle Pass," available to all players for free, and the "Elite Battle Pass," which requires purchase.
Standard Battle Pass (Free)
The Standard Battle Pass is distributed regularly to all players. The first Standard Battle Pass is the [2nd Anniversary Pass], which includes many 2nd-anniversary exclusive cosmetic items. Players can earn various rewards listed in the pass simply by playing the game. Additionally, we will add new rewards to the Standard Battle Pass every few weeks.
Elite Battle Pass (Purchasable)
The Elite Battle Pass is a purchasable DLC. Upon purchase, players will immediately receive 3 exclusive skins, and can subsequently unlock other cosmetic items within the pass by completing matches. The Elite Battle Pass never expires.
