The first season of the Black Torch TV anime has officially concluded with a full run of 12 episodes, completely adapting the original manga created by Takagi Yuji. This former Shonen Jump series, which was once canceled, made its return in animated form in the summer of 2026 after an eight-year hiatus.
The original manga ran for only 19 chapters, all of which were adapted in the first season. Therefore, even if a second season is produced in the future, there are no subsequent manga plotlines available for direct adaptation, requiring an entirely original story to be conceived from scratch.
After the first season concluded, Takagi Yuji discussed the future of the work on social media. He stated that he currently has no plans to personally draw a manga sequel, but if the anime gets another chance, producing a second season with an original storyline would be a delightful prospect.
Takagi Yuji also stated that if an original second season becomes a reality, he is willing to fully participate in its production, collaborating with the animation team on Everythinggj from the script to world-building. However, these remarks express the author's personal wishes and do not mean that a second season has been officially greenlit.
In Takagi Yuji's view, the fact that the original series received an anime adaptation after being on hiatus for many years is akin to a "miracle." Currently, the Black Torch anime is available to watch on Crunchyroll, and no further projects beyond the first season have been announced.
