Square Enix is working to make it easy for players unaccustomed to large open worlds to explore the world of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Game Director Naoki Hamaguchi recently stated that the third and final installment of the trilogy will include more on-screen visual cues than Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
According to Naoki Hamaguchi, the purpose of this change is to prevent players from getting lost as the scale of the adventure expands further. At the same time, the development team understands that some players prefer to find their own paths and objectives, so they are researching ways to allow these hints to be personalized.
"In Rebirth, we added more on-screen hints than in the previous title, so that even players unfamiliar with open-world games can enjoy the experience without getting lost," said Naoki Hamaguchi.
According to him, by following these hints, players can naturally explore the world while unlocking new areas, locations, and activities. However, for players who find such elements too intrusive, Naoki Hamaguchi pointed out that the team is "considering options to let players customize how hints are displayed." The director has not yet clarified whether players will be able to turn off all indicators directly or if there will be different levels of assistance options available.
