In a recent interview, Naoki Hamaguchi, director of the Final Fantasy VII Remake series, discussed the overall scale of the trilogy project, stating that it will be difficult for future games to reach a similar level of magnitude across three titles.
So far, the Final Fantasy VII Remake series has released two titles: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The third installment has been officially titled Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis, confirmed to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 platform on April 8, 2027. Previously, the developers have gradually revealed DLC content, pricing for various editions, download sizes, and extensive details regarding the game world, maps, and combat system.
Discussing the entire remake trilogy, Naoki Hamaguchi stated that the series will undoubtedly be memorable in terms of its impact on the entertainment industry. He pointed out that while the original Final Fantasy VII was already massive, the scale of the remake series is enormous. He further expressed that, to some extent, he does not believe another game will emerge in the future that can compare to this series in terms of scope spanning three titles.
In Naoki Hamaguchi's view, the Final Fantasy VII Remake series will be regarded as a "special case." He admitted feeling proud to have participated in such a project. He emphasized that the series' influence in the entertainment field will be remembered for a long time.
With the release date for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth confirmed and more game details revealed, player anticipation continues to grow. Currently, the official team has not yet announced further specific information about the third installment.
