Not Making Way for GTA 6! Rainbow Six Siege Year 4 Season Launches Concurrently

Rainbow Six Siege will not pause content updates during the GTA 6 release period. Creative Director Joshua Mills confirmed that the game's fourth season will launch around the same time, with the team holding back some unannounced surprises and planning to focus on rewarding players who continue to play during this period.

Mills has been with Ubisoft for 11 years and assumed the role of Creative Director for Rainbow Six Siege earlier this year. With the game now in its 11th year of operation, he discussed the team's plans for the game's future and their preparations for the release of GTA 6.

Mills believes that the release of GTA 6 will impact player counts across all types of games, and Rainbow Six Siege is no exception. However, he expects this decline to be temporary, with players gradually returning after experiencing the new title.

In his view, the team first needs to manage expectations reasonably and ensure alignment between the development team and company management. A decline in data may cause unease among team members, but short-term fluctuations should not be viewed as permanent player loss.

Rather than competing for every player, Mills places greater emphasis on serving those who remain in the game. He summarizes the team's principle as treating these players like "kings and queens," stating that when competitors draw market attention, the team will not halt work but instead increase efforts to reward users willing to continue investing their time.

When asked if the team would release new content during the GTA 6 launch window, Mills gave an affirmative answer. He stated that Rainbow Six Siege's fourth season would launch around that time, bringing changes to the game from various angles; the team also has some unannounced surprises in store, hoping to capture players' attention.
