Blizzard will enhance weather effects in select test zones with the next patch for World of Warcraft: Infinite. The teaser video showcases Elwynn Forest shrouded in heavy rain, where dense fog and downpours significantly reduce player visibility.
After the launch of the World of Warcraft: Eternal test, some players familiar with early World of Warcraft felt that the existing rain and snow effects failed to recapture the adventurous atmosphere of those days. Players hope to see more intense blizzards in zones like Dun Morogh, where weather genuinely impacts visibility rather than serving merely as background decoration.
Blizzard has listed "the world is the protagonist" and "the journey matters more than the destination" as core tenets of this title. Most travel in the game requires players to trek through forests and deserts on foot, rather than frequently using flying mounts as in modern versions, making weather presentation a key element in shaping the exploration experience.
The patch teaser uses an ambient audio-visual format to focus on the heavy rain in Elwynn Forest. The rainfall and fog are so dense that scenery beyond the trees around Goldshire is barely visible, marking a clear contrast with the current weather intensity in the test build.
Blizzard has only confirmed that weather effects will be enhanced in "select" test zones, with the specific scope yet to be announced. The current level cap for World of Warcraft: Eternal is 20, and most game zones remain locked; patch notes are expected later this week, which should reveal more details.
This adjustment was added to the update schedule within weeks of testing beginning. The game is slated for release on November 4, with the enhanced weather effects rolling out first to select zones in the upcoming test patch.
