SHIFT UP Confirms Frame Generation Toggle in Stellar Blade: Complete Edition

The Stellar Blade demo for Nintendo Switch 2 is now available for download. The demo utilizes frame generation technology to maintain what appears to be a 60 FPS experience, but this implementation has sparked discussions regarding input lag and image quality.

AMD's explanation of its FSR frame generation technology notes that the feature works best when the pre-interpolation frame rate is at least 60 FPS and advises against using it when the base frame rate drops below 30 FPS. SHIFT UP developers previously explained that the Nintendo Switch 2 demo first targets a consistent 30 FPS with uniform latency, then uses frame interpolation to reach 60 FPS.

Some Reddit users believe this approach may introduce noticeable input lag, making it unsuitable for Stellar Blade, which emphasizes responsive controls. Others have pointed out that the image exhibits significant noise, particularly in handheld mode.

With the addition of a toggle in the full release, players can choose whether or not to use frame generation. Stellar Blade: Complete Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 is planned for release on November 6, and the demo is currently available for download.
