Andrzej Sapkowski, the author of The Witcher, has not ruled out continuing to write about Geralt's early years and is considering creating new short stories. When asked if there are more young Geralt stories to tell after Crossroads of Ravens, he replied, "There is no limit."
Sapkowski also mentioned that he is considering returning to short stories. The Witcher saga originally began with short stories, but in his view, writing good short stories is harder than writing novels: the author must tell a complete story within a limited space, ensuring the plot is logical from start to finish. He cited Ernest Hemingway as an example when discussing the difficulty of short story writing.
The previous novel, Crossroads of Ravens, brought the story back to the beginning of Geralt's career. In the book, he is inexperienced, makes mistakes, and gradually grows through harsh experiences. Sapkowski described this process as psychological and moral growth.
During the interview, Sapkowski also shared books he has recently enjoyed and recommended several titles for readers looking for something similar to The Witcher. When asked if these books influenced his writing, he jokingly replied, "I hope not!"
Sapkowski did not reveal specific details about the next work, only stating that he is willing to try continuing The Witcher saga in an unconventional way. He had previously mentioned plans to complete a new Witcher book by the end of 2027.
