Tom Clancy's The Division 2 launched the Y8S3.1 "Red Moon Rising" update on September 24, introducing PvE Dark Zone activities and adding two new pieces of gear. Ubisoft had previously scheduled the "Echoes of Central Park" DLC for release in 2027, while this update continues to add new content to the game; the corresponding update version for consoles is 2.37.
The "Red Moon Rising" event runs until November 3. During this period, the Black Tusk has taken control of the PvE Dark Zone. Agents entering will encounter enemy forces, and SHD technology will exhibit anomalous changes. The longer you stay, the higher your "Red Moon" stacks become, enhancing both buffs and debuffs.
Stacks are only valid for the current session: dying, leaving the PvE Dark Zone, or extracting contaminated loot will reset them to zero. Entering a safe house pauses stack accumulation, which resumes upon leaving. Challenging high-difficulty encounters in event activities can yield exotic gear, Dark Zone Named Items, curated Named Items, and prototype equipment from exclusive reward pools.
The two new pieces of gear are Vertigo and Sarru. Vertigo causes suppressed enemies to become confused and increases damage dealt by the user and their allies to targets outside cover by 30% for 15 seconds. Sarru is a backpack whose combat talent cycles through moon phases every 5 seconds, with damage amplification gradually increasing from 5% to 25% at full moon before decreasing. Defeating the "Recruiter" during the event also grants their exclusive mask.
Other limited-time content is also scheduled: from September 22 to 29, Dark Zone XP is tripled and Dark Zone funds are doubled, and dying before reaching the level cap will not result in loss of Dark Zone XP; from September 29 to October 6, the global "Harvest of Wrath" event returns, along with headshot and weak point damage bonuses; from October 6 to 13, Requisition Points rewards for "Countdown" are doubled.
The update also adjusts gear, talents, exotic gear, and SHD skill values in PvP environments, and fixes several issues, including instances where destroying your own skills incorrectly triggers kill-based weapon talents. The "Revenge" project chain will remain open for an additional week starting September 24, with projects unlocking one per hour; all players can complete it again to earn material rewards, but the final outfit tokens can only be obtained once.
