Remedy has released the first hotfix patch for Control: Resonance since its launch today, focusing on adjusting combat values. The health of most enemies and two bosses has been reduced, while the cap for protagonist Dylan's ability power has been increased, significantly improving the combat experience.
For console players, PS5 users will see a download prompt for "Control Resonant Update 1.300.300," while Xbox players will see patch version 1.3.3.0. The patch size is only 350MB (PS5), and download sizes should be small across all platforms.
If you've played the game and found enemies a bit too tanky, today's update should address that issue.
Remedy stated that some players might find enemies too durable in the early game. Therefore, the update reduces the base health and stagger thresholds for most enemies, as well as for the two bosses, "The Dancer" and "The Deserter."
The caps for Dylan's "Mutation Power" and "Ability Power" have also been raised, with the increase scaling progressively with upgrade progress. The more upgrades players obtain, the higher their damage output. To further adjust the difficulty, you can separately set enemy aggression, damage taken, and Dylan's recovery speed in the "Assist Mode" within Game Options.
To facilitate trying out different ability combinations, the update permanently reduces the cost of resetting stats and increases the stock of reset items at all merchants. The number of reset items dropped by the first Resonance boss, "The Artist," has also increased from one to two.
Additionally, the update modifies two English interface descriptions to clarify the meanings of "Mutation Power" and "Build Power." These text adjustments currently apply only to English, with localized versions for other languages to follow.
Hotfix Patch Notes:
Enemy Health and Dylan's Combat Power
We firmly believe these changes will improve the gameplay experience and fluidity while still providing a challenge.
Depending on player progress, enemies may feel overly powerful in the early game. To address this, we are making the following adjustments:
Reduced base health and required stun levels for most enemies, as well as stats for The Dancer and The Deserter bosses.
Increased max Anomaly Power and max Ability Power
These power increases scale exponentially, becoming more significant in the later stages. The more upgrades you acquire, the higher your damage output.
Assist Mode
If you wish to further adjust game settings to suit your preferences and customize various aspects of the gameplay experience, such as enemy aggression, damage taken, or Dylan's skill recovery speed, you can select Assist Mode in the "Gameplay" menu within Game Options. You can use sliders to adjust the difficulty and gain more control over various aspects of the experience, even increasing the difficulty if desired!
To encourage character building and experimentation, we are permanently reducing the cost of resetting attribute points and increasing the stock of "Reset Items" at all merchants in the game.
Additionally, the first boss fight (The Artist) now drops two "Reset Items" instead of one.
UI Text Updates
We will also update some English UI text to better explain the meanings of "Enhancement Power" and "Anomaly Power." These text changes are currently limited to English, with localized versions coming soon.
Anomaly Power: "Multiplier X%" will now become: "Damage and Weaken X%."
Build Power: "Calculated based on equipped weapon forms, talents, and core upgrades." will now read: "Based on unlocked combat skills, mutation forms/upgrades, talents, and core upgrades."
