Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in development. Rik Godwin, a Ubisoft writer who worked on Assassin's Creed Shadows, recently posted that he has also been involved with Beyond Good & Evil 2 over the past few months.
Godwin is the Lead Writer and Associate Narrative Director at Ubisoft Bordeaux. He is currently working on other series including Ghost Recon and Beyond Good & Evil. This new post provides recent updates on the development status of Beyond Good & Evil 2.
Ubisoft underwent restructuring earlier this year and canceled several games, including the Prince of Persia remake. There were reports afterward that the development team for Beyond Good & Evil 2 remained intact, and the game director reaffirmed that the project was still in development. However, there hadn't been much new information about the game until Godwin's recent post.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 was first announced in 2008 and made a reappearance at E3 in 2017. Since then, limited content has been revealed, including a cinematic trailer and some gameplay footage from 2018.
Gaming websites describe Beyond Good & Evil 2 as an action-adventure RPG that supports both single-player and co-op with friends. It serves as a prequel to the series, with combat scenarios spanning planets and space, ranging from close-quarters encounters in hidden temples to the edges of galaxies. Ubisoft is also collaborating with the player community on the game's development through a project called "Space Monkey Program."
