Can PS5 games run natively on PC? AnyPS5 achieves initial boot

AnyPS5 is attempting to convert PS5 games into programs that can run natively on PC. Currently, this tool can only get games to perform an initial launch, but cannot yet make them fully playable.

In this generation, PlayStation has brought titles like God of War and its sequels, Ghost of Tsushima, and The Last of Us series to PC. Recently, its PC porting strategy has shifted toward live-service and multiplayer games; meanwhile, PS5 emulation projects have also made progress over the past few months. AnyPS5 is attempting a different approach to running PS5 games on PC by converting game binaries.

According to the project's GitHub description, AnyPS5 is being developed for Windows and Linux. It converts PS5 executables into native formats for the target system through relinking and provides implementations of system libraries for dynamic linking. The project does not rely on emulators or separate runtime processes, and plans to handle game shaders via Vulkan.

However, there are still critical obstacles between initial launch and playability: due to missing implementations of certain PS5 system interfaces, games currently cannot proceed further. The project is still in early development and has not yet achieved its goal of native PC execution.
