Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty: Warzone will add a toggle for operator skin visibility in Season 1. When enabled, the skins of other players seen by the user will be replaced with random operator appearances from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.
Call of Duty players have long expressed dissatisfaction with certain operator skins that deviate from the series' traditional military aesthetic. Previously, crossover skins featuring characters or franchises such as Nicki Minaj, American Dad!, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have been added to the game.
When Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III was first announced, the development team responded to such feedback by stating they would maintain the Modern Warfare style and promised not to release outlandish or gimmicky skins at launch or in subsequent seasons. However, operator skins from previous titles carry over into Call of Duty: Warzone, so players may still encounter previously released appearances there.
The new toggle only changes the view for the player who enables it and does not alter the actual equipped skins of other players; others will still see their chosen appearances as normal. The toggle is off by default, and players who wish to use this display mode must enable it themselves.
