"Fallout Shelter: The Experiment" Reality Show Scheduled with $1 Million Prize

Nearly 10 months after its initial announcement, Prime Video has finally revealed the release date for Fallout Shelter: Experiment. This is a new reality show adapted from the world of the post-apocalyptic game IP Fallout.

This unscripted competitive reality show will launch on Prime Video on January 13, 2027. The first four episodes will be released all at once in the first week, with the remaining three episodes rolling out weekly until the finale on January 27.

According to the latest official press release, the show invites ordinary contestants into a top-tier blast shelter built by Vault-Tec to test their post-apocalyptic survival skills. Contestants will compete in a series of high-intensity drills, psychological dilemmas, and moral choice challenges, with only one victorious vault dweller emerging to win the grand prize of one million dollars.

Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the creators of the Fallout live-action series, serve as executive producers, with IP head Todd Howard also involved in production. The show is produced by Studio Lambert, the studio behind hit reality shows such as The Traitors, The Circle, and Squid Game: The Challenge.

Following the massive success of Netflix's Squid Game reality show, it's easy to see why Fallout is following suit with a live-action competition program. The live-action series, which shares the same official canonical worldview as the game, is one of Prime Video's most significant original series and has received multiple Primetime Emmy and Creative Arts Emmy nominations. According to star Kyle MacLachlan, Fallout Season 3 is currently in production and is expected to premiere next spring or summer.
