FragPunk Announces Major New Mode "Farlands" – Early Access Launches November 5!

Bad Guitar Studio has announced "Far Frontier," a major new mode for FragPunk, with early access starting on November 5. This mode drives a PvPvE experience through delivery missions, where dozens of players enter a large sandbox area to gather resources, complete tasks, and face threats from wildlife and other players.

Players can cooperate temporarily or betray their companions, stealing packages, blocking deliveries, and eliminating opponents. Resources successfully brought back can be used to upgrade bases, vehicles, and equipment; with improved transport capabilities, players can even acquire mobility tools like mechanical legs.

Insider Gaming believes that mechanics such as load-bearing transportation, weather changes, equipment progression, and environmental interactions in this mode are reminiscent of Death Stranding, while centering on the high-risk loop typical of extraction-based gameplay.

FragPunk was originally a free-to-play hero shooter featuring cards that alter combat rules. Its peak concurrent player count on Steam once reached 113,946, while the concurrent player count at the time of writing was around 735, making the new mode seen as an attempt by the development team to re-engage players.

Insider Gaming also questioned whether the recent trailer might contain traces of generative AI, though this claim is merely an observation based on the footage and has not been confirmed by the development team.
