A few days after the ns2jb exploit was made public, developers and the cracking community began examining Nintendo Switch 2 game files. Princess Peach's 3D model from "Jailbreak" has been extracted, and there are reports that data from test versions of "Deltarune" and "Dark Blood Tribe" has also surfaced, but complete and runnable ROMs have not yet been independently verified.
The extraction work for "Jailbreak" was carried out by misshexa66 and the Switch2Hacks community. Other users claim to have extracted the game's RomFS, but existing information is insufficient to prove that a complete game image has been obtained. Public screenshots of "Deltarune" show data related to Chapters 1 through 4, as well as modifications made for Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, including differential patches, which also do not constitute proof that a complete image has been acquired.
Developed by Sammy Hajhamid, ns2jb allows access to the host's file system services and can read game data, system binaries, and normal modules. However, this method cannot export encryption keys and lacks kernel execution capabilities. Therefore, extracting RomFS does not equate to obtaining a complete, installable, and runnable image. There are currently no public demonstrations proving that these files allow Switch 2 games to run on PC emulators.
Nintendo has removed SmileBASIC 4, which served as the original entry point, from the eShop, and crackers are reportedly testing a new WebKit-based entry point. The currently public method works on firmware 23.0.1 and must be re-executed every time the console is restarted.
