Sales tracking data from Sensor Tower shows that as of October 18, pre-orders for GTA 6 on PlayStation and Xbox platforms are estimated at approximately 6.46 million copies combined. Measured at the 45-day mark before release, digital pre-orders for the game in the US are about 148% higher than those for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II in 2022.
As of September 30, estimated pre-orders for GTA 6 stood at around 4.17 million on PlayStation and approximately 1.48 million on Xbox, totaling about 5.65 million. By October 18, these estimates had risen to roughly 4.8 million and 1.66 million respectively, an increase of approximately 800,000 copies over half a month.
It is important to note that the 148% year-over-year difference applies only to digital pre-orders in the US market and does not represent complete sales figures globally, across all platforms, or including physical copies. The figure of approximately 6.46 million is also an estimate from third-party tracking tools, not an officially confirmed total order count from Rockstar Games or Take-Two, nor does it equate to audited sales.
GTA 6 is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, launching on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
