Report: Sucker Punch Productions Lays Off 26 Employees While Preparing Next Project

Sucker Punch Productions reportedly conducted layoffs as it wrapped up recent releases and shifted focus to planning its next project, with 26 employees affected. This adjustment is linked to the studio's review of team requirements for its upcoming title.

Reports also mention an email allegedly sent to employees by studio management. The email stated that after observing market challenges and assessing team needs for the next project, the company decided to eliminate several positions. Management emphasized that this decision was not made lightly and that the company has done its best to help affected employees through the transition.

In an email, management described the day of layoffs as "a difficult day" and stated that further details regarding future arrangements would be provided in the following week. Current reports have not disclosed which specific departments are affected by these layoffs.

Sucker Punch previously developed Ghost of Tsushima and Ghost of Yotei. Earlier this month, the studio released Ghost of Yotei: Complete Edition, which includes the new narrative expansion "Echoes of Sekigahara." The studio has not yet announced the title, genre, development stage, or staffing plans for its next game.
