Analysts: GTA 6 Has Not Yet Boosted Xbox Sales, Down 27% Year-Over-Year in September

With less than a month until its release, GTA 6's hype has not yet produced any observable positive impact on Xbox Series X|S sales. Circana analyst Mat Piscatella stated that Xbox Series sales in the US fell by 27% year-over-year this September, marking the worst September performance for Xbox to date.

Concurrent data also shows that PS5 sales in the US market rose by 43% year-over-year. Analysts suggest that although Xbox is one of the two console platforms launching GTA 6, the title has yet to reverse the decline in its hardware sales.

Microsoft had previously increased Xbox Series production in anticipation of Rockstar's new release. Meanwhile, reports indicate that the pre-order ratio of GTA 6 for PS5 versus Xbox stands at six to one, with total pre-orders exceeding 6 million copies.
