PS5 Linux Project Update! Adds PS5 Pro and Firmware Support from 5.00 to 13.60

The PS5 Linux project has recently expanded its compatibility range. The ps5-linux-loader now supports PlayStation 5 firmware versions 5.00 to 13.60 and includes support for the PlayStation 5 Pro for the first time. After original lead Andy Nguyen left the PlayStation modding community, the project continues to receive development contributions and is currently maintained by seven developers.

At this stage, the project supports all USB ports on the console, with HDMI output up to 4K at 60Hz, and can utilize the built-in Bluetooth. For networking, the project includes a custom GbE driver to provide wired Ethernet connectivity.

Multimedia capabilities have also been further improved, with hardware video decoding, encoding, and transcoding now available via VAAPI. As output, networking, and peripheral support are gradually completed, the project is expanding from basic boot experiments to desktop and media usage scenarios.

A hypervisor vulnerability has already been discovered in firmware version 14.10, so future support is possible. However, this assessment is based solely on existing vulnerabilities and development progress, not on an official compatibility plan announced by the project team. Actual installation requirements, stability, security risks, and future support should be verified against the project documentation and developer updates.
