ReLU Games (CEO Kim Min-jung), a creative studio under KRAFTON, has released its second major update of the year to celebrate the first anniversary of "Mime Hunt"'s Early Access launch. Following the milestone of surpassing 2 million copies sold globally this June, the development team plans to sustain the game's strong performance in the global market by adding new content and enhancing the behavior mechanics of AI monsters.
"Mime Hunt" is a four-player cooperative horror game that entered Early Access in October 2025. In the game, AI-driven NPC monsters can mimic players' appearances, behaviors, and voices, blending in among teammates. As an "AI-native game" that deeply integrates AI into its core architecture, its distinguishing feature is that AI is not merely a system function but a core mechanism shaping the player experience. This update, themed "OFF THE RAILS," reflects both the scenario of a tram deviating from its intended route and the mental confusion caused by paranoia, aiming to further expand the unique gameplay experience of "Mime Hunt," where players must cooperate with teammates while simultaneously suspecting each other.
The biggest change in this update is the introduction of a new "Paranoia" system, along with further enhancements to the behavior mechanics of AI monsters. The "Paranoia" system causes different players to perceive different situations based on the level of contamination in the game. As contamination levels rise, unexpected events may occur, such as only specific players being able to see Mimesis monsters or hear abnormal voices, further intensifying suspicion and chaos among teammates. Meanwhile, the AI-driven NPC monster "Mimesis" has also been upgraded, capable of observing player behavior patterns and reacting more subtly to the surrounding environment. As AI monsters become more adept at naturally mimicking player actions, the psychological warfare during cooperation will deepen further.
Exploration environments and game content have also received updates. The new map is set against the backdrop of a film shooting location, featuring an interconnected indoor and outdoor scene structure without clear boundaries, offering players a gaming experience distinct from existing maps. Entering this map will trigger a special event where the tram arrives at an unexpected location. Additionally, this update introduces new monsters, scrap materials, and repair stations, as well as expandable inventory capacity, equipment for communicating with teammates, and traps, further enriching the player experience. The overall user interface (UI) of the game has also been adjusted to improve operational convenience.
To celebrate the first anniversary of its Early Access launch, the game is offering player participation events and limited-time discounts. Players can generate a personalized "Survival Report" based on their individual game records and receive a first-anniversary skin by claiming the report. Furthermore, during the Steam Halloween event "Scream V," "Mime Hunt" will offer its biggest discount ever—60% off—from October 27 to November 3. Game merchandise will also be available for pre-order starting October 27 through EBTEN, the game and anime merchandise sales channel under KADOSUTO, a global gaming merchandise retail platform.
Previously, "Mime Hunt" won the Excellence Award in the Game Design category at the "CEDEC Awards 2026," presented by Japan's largest game developer conference, CEDEC (Computer Entertainment Developers Conference), this June. It became the first Korean game to receive this award, with its creativity and technical prowess in integrating AI into game design recognized by the industry. Currently, the game maintains an "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating on Steam.
