The co-op climbing game "Peak" has launched on PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox PC more than a year after its PC release, with cross-platform play enabled across all platforms. Coinciding with the console launch, the Steam version received an update of approximately 10GB, bringing the total installation size to around 15GB—roughly three times its previous size.
Team Peak stated that the increase in storage size was not primarily due to the console ports, but rather a change in the daily map rotation mechanism. Previously, the team would add approximately 30 procedurally generated new maps via Steam patches every few weeks, replacing older content in the rotation.
As development winds down, the team aims to maintain long-term replayability, so they added 208 maps for continuous rotation all at once. This batch of maps is the primary reason for the significant increase in the Steam version's installation size.
Developers are currently addressing issues on various platforms. The bug preventing Steam players from joining lobbies across regions has reportedly been fixed. The Nintendo Switch 2 version has an issue where characters clip through the ground when jumping too high, while the Xbox version experiences frame rate drops. The team also noted that PlayStation pricing in regions like Brazil may be abnormally high; corrections are underway, and they advise local players to wait a few days before purchasing.
