An unofficial PC port has been released for the 1997 rail shooter "Sega Rally." Originally running on Sega Model 3 arcade hardware, this port adds modern rendering features, including native ray-traced sun shadows.
The port also features ambient occlusion, distance fog, bloom, and procedural skies and clouds, with support for MSAA and NVIDIA DLAA. Players can further enhance visual clarity by using HD text, HD UI, and HD texture packs.
Cinematic sequences and gameplay have also been expanded. The new weather system introduces heavy rain, wet ground, and lightning to T-Rex scenes, while nighttime levels feature modernized flashlight effects. The game also adds Boss Fight and Survival modes, along with achievements and statistical tracking.
This project does not include original game assets; users must provide their own legally owned ROM files. Currently, it is only compatible with the Japanese Rev. A ROM for the Sega Model 3 Step 1.5 platform. Plans for long-term maintenance, performance requirements, and support for other regional ROMs have not yet been announced. Please be aware of version matching and compatibility risks associated with unofficial software before use.
