Activision has prioritized cross-platform fairness in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 as a testing focus, but has not yet announced specific aim balance measures or input device matchmaking rules. The game's launch on Nintendo Switch 2 has also introduced new competitive balance issues due to control features like gyroscope aiming and simulated mouse input.
During BGS 2026, Rodrigo Perez, Activision's Latin America Publishing Director, stated that a key task for the team when developing cross-platform features is to ensure a fair experience for different types of players while accommodating the control preferences of various audiences.
Regarding whether Switch 2 players using gyroscope aiming or simulated mouse would gain a precision advantage, Perez noted that the actual experience varies from person to person and pointed out that PC players can also choose traditional controllers. The team is actively testing various control schemes, hoping to maintain smooth and consistent gameplay experiences and progression across all platforms within a unified ecosystem.
Perez did not confirm whether the game will use separate matchmaking for keyboard and mouse, controllers, or other input devices. What is certain is that Activision is currently testing cross-platform fairness solutions, with final matchmaking rules and technical implementations to be announced later.
