"Nintendo Switch Sports Resort" was released on October 22, 2026, with a launch event held in Spain. All 12 sports were available on-site, and players could also explore the expanded Wuhu Island.
The event invited archery world champion Andrés Temiño, boxing world champion Isabel Rivero, jet ski world champion Álex Palau, and table tennis European champion María Xiao to share their competitive experiences and challenge attendees using Joy-Con 2. While the previous demo only offered four events, this experience featured all 12 sports, including returning activities like airplane and boxing, as well as new ones like finger wrestling and skateboarding. The game also includes unlockable challenges and missions.
The skateboarding gameplay allows players to explore attractions and hidden collectibles on Wuhu Island, or cooperate with another player to divide exploration areas. Players use the mouse mode of Joy-Con 2 to push the skateboard, change direction by moving the controller in the air, and perform spins, tricks, and rail grinds. While the controls may feel unfamiliar at first, they define the unique character of this mode.
The new version of Wuhu Island is no longer just a backdrop for various sports, but a vacation area freely explorable by land, sea, and air. Compared to the 2009 title "Wii Sports Resort," the map in this game has been significantly remastered and expanded.
"Nintendo Switch Sports Resort" is now exclusively available on Nintendo Switch 2, featuring motion controls, multiplayer competition, and island exploration as its main content.
