Valve Updates Steam Beta, Adds Dedicated Game Invite Widget for SteamOS

Valve released a Steam beta client update on October 26, adding a dedicated game invitation component for SteamOS and Big Picture Mode. Game invitations will now appear separately from the regular chat flow, allowing players to view and respond to them more directly.

Previously, after receiving an invitation in these interfaces, players had to open their chat history with friends and scroll to find the relevant message. For players using controllers, Steam Machines, or other living room-style devices, the new entry point shortens the operation path and reduces the likelihood of invitations being buried under multiple conversations.

This adjustment is primarily aimed at users who frequently participate in multiplayer games via SteamOS and Big Picture Mode. Current public information does not yet detail all interaction methods for the component, nor has it confirmed whether multiple invitations can be managed uniformly.

This feature is currently in beta, and its interface design and official release date are subject to change. Players who wish to use it immediately need to join the corresponding client beta branch and ensure their device is running a supported version of SteamOS or Big Picture Mode.
