Former Director Says Dragon Age Still Has Value, Suggests Remaking Dragon Age: Origins First

Mark Darrah, former producer and director of Dragon Age, believes the series has not lost its value and is far from beyond saving. He suggests starting with a remake of Dragon Age: Origins to revitalize the franchise.

前总监称《龙腾世纪》仍有价值 建议先重制《龙腾世纪:起源》

Darrah spent ten years at BioWare, contributing to the development of several Dragon Age games and their expansions. He stated that the immediate obstacle facing the series is the lack of someone within EA who can propose a plan, secure approval, and oversee the project. If he were still at BioWare, he believes a new Dragon Age project could still get approved, but it would require someone to take on the role of coordinator and lead.

Darrah also mentioned that BioWare's current team consists mainly of core members from the Mass Effect projects, so he is unsure who would currently drive a new Dragon Age initiative. In his view, remaking older titles is one way to rejuvenate the series, with Dragon Age: Origins being the prime candidate.

He explained that the PC version of Dragon Age: Origins is a 32-bit application, making it difficult to run stably on modern computers; without extensive support from the modding community, players might not even be able to play properly. These remarks are based on Darrah's personal experiences and assumptions, not an official development plan announced by EA, nor do they indicate that a new title or remake has been greenlit.
