The free browser-based fan basketball game "Pokémon Dunk" was released on October 26, 2026. Developed by KungFuDOOM in just over a week, the game currently features 291 Pokémon, including all members from the first and second generations, as well as some popular characters from later generations.
Each Pokémon has stats such as overall rating, on-court position, shooting, passing, defense, stamina, size, and evolution line. The game combines NBA 2K-style player ratings with the arcade basketball pace of NBA Jam. Quick Match allows players to select a team of five Pokémon to face Gym Leaders or Elite Four teams in full 5-on-5 games.
Gameplay mechanics include shot meters, sprinting, dunks, alley-oops, steals, blocks, and body checks. Different types have special effects, and type matchups also influence physical confrontations. In Team Management mode, players can arrange five starters and five substitutes to compete in a nine-week season against Kanto's eight Gym Leaders and the Elite Four.
Players can either play matches themselves or simulate the schedule, while managing stamina, injuries, trades, free agents, and rookie drafts. Pokémon can level up and evolve through experience, with playoffs, awards, and championship battles held after the season ends. The game supports keyboard, controller, and touch screen inputs, requires no download, and online multiplayer is still in the works. The developers state that this is a non-commercial fan project not affiliated with or authorized by Nintendo, Game Freak, or The Pokémon Company.
