Pokémon GO has released a roughly 15-second short film hinting at the potential return of Eternatus during the current "Twilight Trails" season. This season ends on December 1, but Niantic has not yet announced specific event details.
The short film begins by showing distant energy points, followed by a massive creature floating in the air, whose appearance is believed to closely resemble Eternamax Eternatus. The dark, cloudy sky in the footage is also similar to the in-game scenery during the 2025 "Dynamax Finale" event.
Eternatus first appeared during the "Dynamax Finale" weekend in August 2025. Players could then progress through the event pass to obtain a regular-form Eternatus and challenge its Eternamax form to earn candy. Niantic later stated that it would return in the future, but no further details have been announced for over a year.
The short film also featured trainers camping with the Generation 8 starter Pokémon, leading some players to link the teaser to the "Wild Area 2026" event. Claims about a regional field event on November 6 and a global event from November 14–15 are merely speculation based on leaked information. Niantic has yet to confirm the return date, challenge format, or whether players will be able to catch another Eternatus.
