Cyberpunk 2077 Hits Three-Year High with Over 187,000 Concurrent Players on Steam

Nearly six years after its release, Cyberpunk 2077 is seeing a resurgence in players. On Sunday, the game's concurrent player count on Steam surpassed 187,000, marking its highest peak since October 2023.

The last time a similar surge occurred was following the 2.0 update and the release of the major expansion Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, when the peak approached 200,000. Although this recent peak did not surpass that level, it represents a three-year high achieved without the boost of a new expansion.

This surge coincided with the launch of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2, a 70% discount on Steam, and a major surprise update. The discount brought the game to its historical low of $17.99, while the update primarily added content related to the new season of the anime. TheGamer considers the anime to be the main driver of interest, but there is no data to quantify the individual contributions of these three factors.

The figure of 187,000 covers only Steam. Cyberpunk 2077 is also available on PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch 2. Based on this, TheGamer estimates that the total number of players across all platforms exceeded 200,000 during the same period; however, since other platforms lack precise public statistics comparable to SteamDB, this total is not an actual measured figure. Currently, development of the game's sequel and a live-action film is underway.
