The RecompLauncher community recompilation project directory is now live, featuring 192 console-to-PC game projects at the time of writing, spanning multiple generations of Nintendo, PlayStation, and Xbox. The directory includes titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, God of War III, and Skate 3, though some projects are incomplete or not yet available for download.
Many included projects use static recompilation, converting original console game code into native PC programs rather than emulating the original hardware. The website currently supports filtering entries by compatibility with Windows, macOS, and Linux.
The project was initially planned as a PC extension for RecompStore, a homebrew store for jailbroken PS5s, but was later renamed RecompLauncher based on community feedback. The launcher itself has not yet been released, and the download page currently only indicates a Windows release.
As currently planned, the launcher can be used to install recompilation projects, fetch updates from developers' GitHub repositories, and configure games using players' own disc images or ROMs. Some projects already configured for PC can also be sent to RecompStore on PS5. The platform does not provide game files and requires users to legally own the corresponding games; Quiver Launcher has previously released similar installation and update management applications.
