The League of Legends trading card game, Legends of Runeterra, will launch its fifth expansion, "Radiance," at the end of the year. This expansion will introduce three new keywords: Deploy, Show Off, and Disarm, along with new champions and music-themed collaborative cards.
The three keywords correspond to different gameplay strategies: Deploy allows equipment to participate in board control; Show Off triggers stronger effects by revealing cards in hand or friendly cards on the board; and Disarm reduces the power of enemy units during attacks. Champions such as Evelynn, Mordekaiser, and Ziggs will also be released with the expansion.
The new content also includes a two-champion preconstructed deck featuring Evelynn and Seraphine. Early access reveals that the Evelynn deck accelerates tempo through hidden cards, extra resources, and Nexus scoring; the Seraphine deck focuses on deploying units, leveraging Fatigue to reduce spell costs and enhance synergy, though its setup speed is relatively slower. Existing Irelia and Azir decks can also adopt the newly added spell and equipment mechanics.
In terms of collectibles, the expansion will feature special music-themed cards and ultra-rare cards developed in collaboration with Riot Games Music, covering K/DA, HEARTSTEEL, and Instrument Runes. New K/DA songs and skins are also included in this collaboration. The impact of the new content on the actual competitive meta remains to be seen once the expansion officially launches.
