According to reports, Marvel Studios is moving forward with a new Ghost Rider film. The movie will abandon the studio's usual digital cinematography approach, with director of photography Linus Sandgren shooting entirely on traditional film stock.
This choice is expected to give the film a grittier, more authentic, and layered visual texture, distinguishing it from previous Marvel films. However, this is merely an expectation regarding the filming style, not an evaluation of the final product. Sandgren is also involved in the production of Dune: Part Three, and reports link this decision to his collaborative experience with Denis Villeneuve.
The film is scheduled to begin large-scale on-location shooting on the streets of New York next year, with Ryan Gosling starring. Connor Storrie is currently in negotiations to play the main villain, but his involvement has not yet been confirmed.
The report also states that the film will be directed by Shawn Levy, who directed Deadpool & Wolverine, with the final screenplay handled by Jonathan Tropper. Plot details remain under wraps. The current global release date is set for July 28, 2028.
