Nas Nakarus, developer at Studio Bitdot, unveiled a demo of the new mode for "Haystack Needle Search Simulator." Faced with a flood of similar titles appearing on Roblox and Steam, the team turned the hunt for the original game into a new gameplay mechanic.
As shown in the accompanying video, players no longer search for a needle in a haystack; instead, they must find the original "Haystack Needle Search Simulator" among a vast number of game packages. This design serves as a self-deprecating response to the numerous imitations the game has faced, and the original store cover has already added an "ORIGINAL" label.
The core gameplay of the original involves finding a single needle among five million strands of hay. While searching, players may discover treasures that can be sold for funds to upgrade tools. The game also supports online co-op with friends. The project released its concept video on August 22, 2026, subsequently gaining significant attention on social media platforms.
"Haystack Needle Search Simulator" is scheduled to launch a playable test this week and will arrive on PC via Steam in 2026, with Japanese language support. The developer previously teased a "secret third mode" alongside the hardcore mode, but it remains unconfirmed whether the newly showcased mode corresponds to that content.
