In addition to drawing and importing fish, players can feed them and provide daily care. Completed personalized aquariums can be set as desktop wallpapers, allowing players to watch their fish swim while attending to other tasks.

The developer, known on Steam as byKaleb, is a 3D artist in the film industry, and Draw Fish Aquarium is their first video game. Inspired by their children's drawings about a year and a half ago, the initial goal was to bring the characters sketched by children to life.

The newly released launch trailer, approximately three minutes long, goes beyond simply showcasing game features. It depicts a young life transitioning from curiosity and creative desire to facing obligations and setbacks, while also addressing how the rise of AI art might discourage aspiring creators.

The trailer concludes by returning to the joy of "creating for creation's sake," linking current creative anxieties with the game's origins in family drawing sessions. A demo for Draw Fish Aquarium is currently available, with the full release scheduled for November 13.
